Acrobat walks tightrope between hot air balloons

Chinese acrobat Saimaiti Aishan has successfully walked across a tightrope strung between two hot air balloons 100 feet off the ground.

The 27-year-old Uighur acrobat walked between the two balloons in Hunan province on Saturday as preparation for a world record attempt at 650 feet above the ground.

Aishan is reported to have encountered some problems during his crossing and had to sit down halfway across the wire after experiencing difficulties with his balancing pole.

A large crowd watched Aishan in action and cheered him on once he made it across, but in a heart-stopping moment, the tightrope walker also slipped off the rope while celebrating after reaching the balloon basket.

Having completed the crossing at 100 feet, the 27-year-old is said to have been unsuccessful in his attempt to cross at 328 feet, half the height he is preparing to walk to claim his fourth Guinness World Record.
