At the age of 40, Mikey Welsh, former bassist of Weezer, has reportedly died from a suspected drug overdose.
In a hotel room in Chicago, he was discovered yesterday; he had traveled to the city to see his old band headline the Riot Fest.
Just two weeks prior, he accurately predicted the time and location of his own death on Twitter.
On September 26, he tweeted: ‘dreamt i died in chicago next weekend (heart attack in my sleep). need to write my will today.’
He later corrected himself: ‘correction – the weekend after next.’
While there has been no official confirmation regarding the cause of death, police reportedly suspect narcotic involvement.
The announcement of his passing was made by his family through a message on Twitter and Facebook yesterday, stating: ‘We are deeply saddened to announce that Mikey Welsh passed away unexpectedly today.
‘He will forever be remembered as an amazing father, artist, and friend. May he rest in peace.’
