‘Body bags’ have run out for rescue workers in Syria.
The recent assault on the Omar Bin Abdul Aziz Hospital indicates that every city in the eastern region has been affected.
Since 2012, Aleppo has seen a division between government control in the west and rebel-held territories in the east.
Last week, with support from Russia, Syrian troops launched a new offensive, resulting in the deaths of twenty-seven individuals in this latest attack. The Syrian government has vowed to reclaim the areas held by rebels, threatening bombardment with all available weaponry.
The attack has drawn condemnation from the White House.
Isn’t the shortage of body bags for rescue workers a sufficient reason to cease hostilities and seek a peaceful resolution? A resolution that prevents further needless loss of life?
A process is needed to mark the beginning of the end of violence…but I truly struggle to perceive any hope in this situation.
Although the Middle East has always faced turmoil, it’s imperative that this cycle of violence comes to an end!
