‘Snakes on a Bus’ – could be a new movie

When dozens of poisonous snakes escaped from a sack, a bus travelling through central Vietnam had to be evacuated.

Shortly after departing from Da Nang city on its route to Quy Nhon City, the bus came to a halt when a passenger noticed a snake at her feet.

“I felt something tickle my legs and saw a snake,” said passenger Huynh Thi Diep. Diep screamed, causing other passengers to be alerted.

Within 30 minutes, the snakes, all common Kraits, were either caught or killed. Fortunately, no one was bitten.

According to a report by police-run newspaper An Ninh Thu Do, the snakes escaped from two sacks intended for delivery to the driver while en route.

The driver admitted that he was unaware of the contents of the sacks at that moment.

A police investigation is currently underway to determine the owner of the snakes.

In Vietnam, Kraits are the most commonly used species in the production of snake wine.
