A new book sensationally claims that Sarah Palin snorted cocaine off a 55-gallon oil drum while snowmobiling with friends and engaged in illicit affairs with a prominent NBA star and one of her husband’s business associates.
These revelations could deliver a severe blow to the controversial politician’s aspirations of entering the 2012 presidential race, as Mrs. Palin is alleged to have used class A drugs with her husband while secretly smoking marijuana during college in clandestine encounters with one of her professors.
Joe McGinniss’s upcoming book, The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin, scheduled for release on September 20, further alleges that the former governor of Alaska is far from the traditional family woman she purports to be.
The book asserts that Mrs. Palin, now 47, had a one-night affair with Miami Heat basketball player Glen Rice less than a year prior to eloping with her husband.
According to the allegations, she met the 6ft 8in player in 1987 when he was competing in a college basketball tournament in Alaska, while she worked as a sports reporter for KTUU television.
The book also claims she had a six-month affair with Brad Hanson, her husband’s business partner, which led Todd to terminate their business partnership.
To unearth Mrs. Palin’s hidden secrets, Mr. McGinniss has spent three years researching the former vice presidential candidate and even moved into a home nearby in Wasilla, Alaska, last year.
The author notes that after college, Mrs. Palin developed a ‘fetish’ for black men.
Allegedly, she had an affair with basketball star Glen Rice in the dorm room of her younger sister, Molly, during their time at the University of Alaska, while she was dating Todd, merely nine months before their marriage.
Mrs. Palin became pregnant with Todd, and they eloped in August 1988. Their first son, Track, who is the eldest of five children, was born eight months later in April 1989. According to the National Enquirer, a friend mentioned that Mrs. Palin spent the night with the basketball star but couldn’t confirm if they engaged in sexual activity.
“I remember Sarah feeling quite pleased about having been with a black basketball star,” a source revealed to the magazine.
The athlete is reportedly said to have corroborated the encounter in Mr. McGinniss’s book. Mr. Rice later enjoyed a successful career in the NBA, being recognized as a three-time All-Star.
The book further claims that while married, Mrs. Palin carried on an affair with one of her husband’s business partners.
Todd is alleged to have ceased all professional connections with Brad Hanson after discovering the secret six-month affair in 1996.
Both Mrs. Palin and Mr. Hanson have denied these accusations.
Perhaps the most damaging allegation is the implication that this supposedly traditional all-American mother had drug involvement.
According to Mr. McGinniss, while attending Mat-Su College, Mrs. Palin used marijuana with a professor, who was also the father of one of her female friends.
Further claims suggest that before her election as governor, she snorted cocaine with her husband off an overturned oil drum during snowmobiling outings with friends.
Todd, arrested for DUI in 1986, was known to use cocaine frequently and was reportedly “on the end of a straw plenty,” as stated by a long-term associate cited in the book.
The explosive book continues to quote various individuals who…The family was known to me during my upbringing, with claims that Mrs. Palin was a ‘bad mum’ who would lock herself away for hours, asking her children to prepare their own dinners.
In 2008, Sarah Palin was unexpectedly chosen to be the Republican vice presidential candidate.
Her acceptance of the nomination ignited a media frenzy, despite skepticism regarding her qualifications.
However, she captivated the U.S. audience following a barnstorming speech in September 2008, where she fiercely rebutted critics who labeled her as ‘small town’.
Palin, who had served as the mayor of Wasilla prior to her governorship in Alaska, resigned after the Republican loss in the presidential race.
Although the mother of five has largely remained silent about her intentions to run next year, she has indicated that a decision may be revealed at the end of this month.
In the past few months, she has been eclipsed by Tea Party figures such as Michelle Bachmann.
The Republican, who has now aligned herself with the Tea Party movement in the U.S., has faced ongoing scandals since being named as Senator John McCain’s running mate in 2007.
Consistent rumors about her potential divorce from her husband Todd have been repeatedly dismissed.
Additionally, she has been accused by Levi Johnston, the father of her daughter’s child, of wanting to keep Bristol’s pregnancy hidden and to adopt the baby herself.
As of now, Palin has not confirmed her plans regarding a run for next year’s presidential election.
Joe McGinniss, aged 68, is the author of several political books, including those focused on former President Richard Nixon and the state of Alaska.
However, his critical examination of the state resulted in backlash from Palin after he challenged her assertion of having facilitated the construction of a $40 billion natural gas pipeline.
The tension escalated when he accepted an offer to rent a small house adjacent to Sarah Palin’s in Wasilla during the summer of 2010.
This prompted Palin to publish several posts on her Facebook account and write articles in the conservative media, harshly criticizing Mr. McGinniss’s approach to his book.
Since then, Mr. McGinniss has left Wasilla after finishing his writing project.
