A pilot suspected of murdering his ex-girlfriend has stolen a jet, which now remains on the runway following his self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Brian Hedglin, aged 40, executed a dramatic escape by hijacking an empty SkyWest plane with 50 seats. However, he veered into a terminal building, grazing one of its wings, before colliding with parked cars. At St George airport in Utah, US, his body was discovered in the cockpit prior to the removal of the jet.
Hedglin, who worked as a SkyWest pilot, fled after the discovery of his ex, Christina Cornejo, aged 39, who was found stabbed to death in Colorado last week. The FBI was investigating the case as of last night.
