Man hijacks plane then shoots himself in the head

A jet stolen by a pilot suspected of murdering his ex-girlfriend sits on the runway after he shot himself in the head.

Brian Hedglin, 40, hijacked the empty 50-seat SkyWest plane in a dramatic escape bid. But he drove it into a terminal building, clipping its wing, before crashing into cars. His body was found in the cockpit at St George airport in Utah, US, before the jet was removed.

Hedglin — a SkyWest pilot — went on the run after his ex Christina Cornejo, 39, was found stabbed to death in Colorado last week. The FBI was last night probing the case.
