Lipstick in school

A recent news report highlighted an unusual issue faced by a private school in Perth. Several 12-year-old girls had started using lipstick, applying it in the bathroom. While this was acceptable, they would then press their lips against the mirror, leaving behind dozens of small lip prints.

Each night, the maintenance man would erase them, only for the girls to recreate the prints the following day.

Eventually, the principal determined that action needed to be taken. She gathered all the girls in the bathroom and was joined by the maintenance man. She explained the significant challenge the custodian faced in cleaning the mirrors each night (imagining the little princesses’ yawns at this point is easy).

To illustrate the difficulty involved in keeping the mirrors clean, she requested the maintenance man to demonstrate the effort required.

Using a long-handled squeegee, he dipped it into the toilet and proceeded to clean the mirror with it.

Since that incident, the mirror has been free of any lip prints.
