In the Czech Republic, an adventurous kangaroo with a penchant for frilly knickers managed to break free from its owner and embarked on a lingerie heist.
While Benji may appear adorable, he exhibited a remarkable talent for snatching clothing as he hopped from yard to yard, only taking the most alluring pieces from clotheslines.
The two-year-old marsupial, residing in Prague, was ultimately apprehended when a woman glanced out of her window and spotted the mischievous creature absconding with a pair of her beloved undies.
After receiving a report from Benji’s owner about the escape, police were aware of the runaway kangaroo, but they failed to connect the dots when residents began reporting thefts from their washing lines.
A spokesperson for the police remarked: ‘Initially, we received a call from Benji’s owner informing us that his pet kangaroo had escaped. Concurrently, we started to receive numerous reports of thefts from washing lines.
‘It wasn’t until Benji was caught in the act that we realized they were related.’
Petr Hlabovic, 35, Benji’s relieved owner, expressed: ‘I’m incredibly glad to have him back. I have no idea what went through his mind – he definitely didn’t pick up that behavior from me.’
