According to reports, the FBI investigated late Bee Gees singer Robin Gibb for allegedly hiring a hitman to kill his ex-wife.
In 1980, Robin Gibb, who passed away in May this year after a prolonged fight with cancer, was being investigated by US authorities following death threats he made against his former spouse, Molly Hullis.
A telegram allegedly sent by Gibb to the legal firm representing Hullis, Haymon & Waiters, seemingly addressed their dispute. In it, he stated: “I warned and warned you. The situation is now very serious. No one walks all over me…I have had enough. I have taken out a contract. It is now a question of time.”
It remains unclear whether Gibb’s threats were serious or had any credible foundation, and the FBI ceased its investigation when Hullis and the law firm opted not to file any charges.
In June, numerous people gathered to pay tribute to Gibb, who had been suffering from liver and colon cancers in recent years, and he was laid to rest at the age of 62 during his funeral in Oxfordshire.
As per his son, Robin-John Gibb, it was kidney failure that led to his father’s demise. He explained, “He was…dosed with sedatives to handle the side effects of his chemotherapy, and his liver just couldn’t process them. He deteriorated to a point where it began to impact his kidneys as well…It was a really sudden downturn.”
The music career of Robin Gibb commenced in 1958 when he, along with his brothers Barry and Maurice, formed The Bee Gees. The band went on to achieve success over six decades, selling over 200 million records, with hits like ‘Stayin’ Alive’ and ‘I’ve Gotta Get A Message To You’.
