China is going to overtake Australia as wine producers

Soaring China is set to overtake Australia as a wine producer in just three years.

The superpower is set to leap from tenth biggest wine producer to sixth by 2014.

That’s a staggering 77% growth.

Wine productionis expected to jump from 72 million cases in 2009 to 128 million cases in 2014, says wine exhibition organiser Vinexpo.

The Chinese already drink 1.34 billion bottles a year, according to International Wine and Spirits Research.
