A child killer infamous in Western Australia, who spent 24 years imprisoned for the murders of a mother and her son, has found himself back behind bars.
In 1984, Robert Barry Pearce took the lives of his ex-girlfriend and her child.
Jaime Dunderdale, the boy, suffered over 40 stab wounds.
Later, Pearce was implicated in a scheme in 1990 to detonate explosives against the walls of Fremantle Prison.
His release in 2008 sparked significant controversy.
On Monday night, he allegedly threatened a service station employee in Albany, Western Australia, wielding a knife and subsequently stealing money and cigarettes.
After the incident, Pearce turned himself in to the police and has been detained in custody.
