In his bedroom, a fisherman from far north Queensland has spent the night with a two-metre saltwater crocodile.
While barramundi fishing near Innisfail, south of Cairns, Ashley Sala captured the reptile at Ninds Creek.
Frustrated by the abundance of crocs in the region, Mr. Sala placed the creature in his car boot and visited his local councillor’s house to voice his concerns.
Cassowary Coast councillor Mark Nolan remarked that it was one of the more unique visits he has encountered.
“I calmed him down and suggested that he comfort the reptile for the night, ensuring it was secure – he even asked his girlfriend to vacate the small donga for the evening,” Councillor Nolan shared.
“He had a bunk bed there – he occupied the top bunk while the two-metre saltwater croc rested on the floor.
“Although its jaws were tied, it had the freedom to move around.”
Councillor Nolan stated that Crocodile Dundee actor Paul Hogan can’t compare to Ashley Sala.
“Paul Hogan never shared a bed with a saltie – Ashley has – and I was there to see it,” he noted.
“I rate Ashley a 10 out of 10 for how he attended to the reptile throughout the night, and now it has been safely relocated back to a crocodile farm.”
