The title of Miss World 2010 has been claimed by American teenager, Alexandra Mills in Southern China.
At 19 years old, Mills, who has blonde hair and blue eyes, showed her emotions openly, with tears flowing as Kaiane Aldorino placed the tiara atop her head.
Following the crowning, Kaiane, who was last year’s Miss World and represented Gibraltar, guided Mills to her diamond-shaped throne as she was named Miss World 2010 on its 60th anniversary.
A professional model with Elite Models agency, Alexandra Mills greeted the audience of 2000 at the Beauty Crown Theatre in the resort town of Sanya, located on Hainan Island.
The Miss World competition attracts a global television audience of approximately one billion viewers.
According to Mills, the month she spent touring China alongside the 114 other contestants significantly impacted her life.
In the final results, Botswana’s Emma Wareus secured the second position, while Venezuela’s Adriana Vasini finished in third place.
The Miss World Pageant commenced with vibrant performances by local dancers and drummers from Hainan Island, marking the fifth time the island hosted this event in eight years.
