More death’s on Victoria’s roads

Four people have died on Victoria’s roads in a horror beginning to the unofficial Melbourne Cup weekend.

Two motorcyclists were killed in separate collisions in Victoria’s south-west. A 54 year old motorcyclists was killed after a collision with a car in Walsh Road, Warrnambool, just after 9:00pm on Friday, police said.

A 20 year old man died travelling with a pillion passenger on a trail-bike on Whitehead Court in Warrnambool, just after 3:00am on Saturday. The passenger was taken to hospital with a suspected broken leg.

A male died after a utility containing seven people rolled at around 2:00am near Dargo.

A rural ambulance spokesman said one person is expected to be flown to Melbourne with possible spinal injuries. The remaining five suffered cuts and abrasions and injuries to the chest, ribs and wrists.

Meanwhile, a 19 year old man has died after the car he was driving veered off the road in Derrinallum, near Lismore, about 3:00am. His 21 year old brother who was also in the car, has been air-lifted to hospital with possible spinal and head injuries.

The fatalities tally the road toll to 257 compared to 232 for the same time last year.
