$12,600 for dinner with Gillard

A scarf hand-knitted by Prime Minister Julia Gillard has been purchased for $4050 by an anonymous punter.

However, the most sought-after item in the annual federal press gallery Midwinter Ball charity auction was dinner with prominent Liberals Julie Bishop and Malcolm Turnbull, fetching $13,000.

This bid narrowly outperformed a $12,600 offer for a dinner with Ms. Gillard.

A $7100 bid secured the opportunity for two individuals to accompany Opposition Leader Tony Abbott on his daily bike ride, followed by breakfast.

The auction’s proceeds will be allocated to various charities.
