Tony McCarroll, the former drummer of Oasis, is putting his old drumkit up for auction, and it appears that football star Wayne Rooney may be interested.
Having left the band in 1995 after contributing to their debut album ‘Definitely Maybe’, McCarroll took legal action against Oasis in 1999 over lost profits, ultimately settling for $1,000,000 out of court. Recently, he has discussed his current circumstances and announced plans to part with some of his old band memorabilia.
“I’ve never tried to exploit my connections with Oasis over the years. Numerous offers and chances have come my way, but I’ve never felt compelled to take action. My life has been quite normal, without much happening. Recently, I’ve considered DJing alongside Clint Boon,” he stated.
Furthermore, he mentioned, “I caught wind of a rumour that Wayne Rooney might want to purchase the drumkit, which I thought could be a better option than letting it collect dust in storage. It has been stored away for years among my old records, but now it’s being brought back to life. The recording setup was fantastic — a Premier kit. In the past, we would rent cymbals, but the bass drum, toms, and Black Beauty snare were mine. Everything is up for auction now. If this goes well, I plan to donate part of the proceeds to a music-related charity as well.”
The identity of the auction’s winner will be disclosed next month.
