Thurston Moore’s new band Chelsea Light Moving

Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth has introduced his new band, Chelsea Light Moving.

Alongside Moore, the lineup includes Keith Moore on guitar, Samara Lubelski on bass, and John Moloney on drums. The band is set to release its debut track, ‘Burroughs’, which draws inspiration from the final words of Beat writer William Burroughs, according to reports from Spin.

Another track from the band is scheduled to be released next week.

It was also disclosed yesterday that Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore are collaborating with Yoko Ono on a mini-album titled ‘YOKOKIMTHURSTON’. This six-track album is set to drop on September 24, featuring a 14-minute single titled ‘Early In The Morning’.

Last October, Gordon and Moore announced their separation after 27 years of marriage. The couple shared their decision through a statement released by their label, Matador Records.

This news cast uncertainty over the future of Sonic Youth, as Matador noted that the band’s plans remained “uncertain,” despite earlier hints that new material would be recorded in 2011.
