The band’s 13th studio album, ‘The Terror’, is set to be released by The Flaming Lips.
Produced by Dave Fridmann and the band at Tarbox Road Studios located in New York State, the album features “nine original compositions that reflect a darker-hued spectrum than previous works, alongside a more inward-looking lyrical perspective than one might expect…but perhaps it isn’t surprising after all.”
Wayne Coyne, the frontman, shares: “What prompts us to create this music that we call ‘The Terror’…this bleak and disturbing record? I find myself hesitant to know the answer I suspect is looming: we were hopeless, we were disturbed, and I think we are coming to terms with the reality that some things are indeed hopeless. Or is it that we let hope fade in one area to allow it to flourish in another? Perhaps this marks the beginning of the answer.”
A new track not included in the album, titled ‘Sun Blows Up Today’, will be released on February 3.
