The Darkness has released ‘Every Inch Of You’, the inaugural track from their forthcoming studio album ‘Hot Cakes’.
The band revealed complete details about ‘Hot Cakes’ and disclosed its opening song. Filled with their signature provocative humor, the track features lead vocalist Justin Hawkins singing in falsetto, “suck my cock“, before elaborating, “I’m in a band with my brother and my two best mates.”
This album marks their first release since 2005’s ‘One Way Ticket To Hell And Back’ and comes after their reunion in 2011. Another song, named ‘Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us’, has already been made available online. The album’s first official single will be ‘With A Woman’, set to drop next month.
Scheduled for release on August 20 through Play It Again Sam recordings, ‘Hot Cakes’ has been produced by Justin and Dan Hawkins, along with longtime collaborator Nick Brine.
In discussing the album, Justin Hawkins shared: “‘Hot Cakes’ captures a raw essence reminiscent of the first album, interspersed with moments of luxury similar to the second one. We take pride in the songs and can’t wait for everyone to hear them.”
He further stated: “For quite some time, we’ve been incorporating much of the album’s material into our live performances. Each time a new song is played, it feels like an intense, passionate connection in a frenzied love ritual between us and our audience.”
The album also features a cover of a Radiohead single, ‘Street Spirit (Fade Out)’, with Hawkins commenting: “The Radiohead cover was included because it has remained a live favorite for many years, and we aimed to provide a definitive recording of our version.”
The band is also set to support Lady Gaga on her summer stadium tour throughout Europe.
