After 15 years since his tragic shooting, the autopsy report of rapper Notorious BIG has now been disclosed.
Christopher Wallace, the rapper’s real name, was fatally shot in a drive-by incident in Los Angeles on March 9, 1997.
While seated in the passenger side of a Chevy Suburban on Wilshire Blvd, the 24-year-old rapper was struck by four bullets.
According to the report, the initial three shots were not lethal.
It indicates that the fourth gunshot was the deadly one, “which entered Wallace’s body through his right hip and tore through several vital organs … ultimately coming to rest in his left shoulder area.” The projectile passed through the colon, liver, heart, and left lung.
The first bullet struck Biggie in the left forearm; the second penetrated his back without affecting any vital organs, while the third shot entered and exited his left thigh. All bullets passed through the car door prior to impacting Wallace.
The coroner noted that Wallace was “morbidly obese,” and a toxicology examination revealed no drugs or alcohol present in his system at the time of his demise.
Detectives in Los Angeles reopened his murder investigation last year, as new information “reinvigorated” the unsolved case.
Since Wallace’s passing, there has been considerable speculation that the murder could have been retaliation for the death of Tupac Shakur, who was killed just six months prior in Las Vegas. His murder case remains unsolved as well.
Born on May 21, 1972, Wallace was raised in Brooklyn. He gained prominence after the release of his debut album ‘Ready To Die’ in 1994, after catching the attention of Sean Combs, also known as P Diddy, and tied the knot with singer Faith Evans in 1995.
