This year’s Splendour lineup features confirmed international acts such as The National, James Blake, Mumford and Sons, Empire Of The Sun, TV On The Radio, and Babyshambles.
Taking place from Friday, July 26 to Sunday, July 28, Splendour 2013 will be hosted at the festival’s new location in North Byron Parklands, Yelgun. After seven years of planning, the move to this expansive 660-acre site, situated 25 kilometres north of Byron Bay proper, is finally happening. For its inaugural year at this venue, Splendour will limit attendance to 25,000 individuals.
Promoter Jessica Ducrou noted last year that for the initial events at Yelgun, the staging will be similar to that of Belongil Fields: “I think we are considering Big Tops, especially for the early years. It’s primarily about adapting to the space and figuring out what works best. After each show, like every year, we analyze how we can make improvements for the future. We have a pretty good idea of what to expect.”
The positive news is that ticket prices have largely remained unchanged from last year. A single-day ticket for Splendour In The Grass 2013 will cost $140 plus booking fees, marking only a $5 increase from last year’s $135 single-day tickets. Tickets for the three-day event will stay at $350 plus booking fees, while camping tickets will continue to be priced at $99 plus booking fees (unchanged from the previous year). The only unexpected addition is the “Country Club ticket” priced at $699 plus booking fees, which seems to be a continuation of last year’s “Gold VIP tickets” concept, given its premium rate.
