To soundtrack an advert for US microwaveable snack food Hot Pockets, Snoop Dogg has re-recorded his 2004 single ‘Drop It Like It’s Hot’.
The updated track is titled ‘Pocket Like It’s Hot’.
In a full-length music video style advertisement, Snoop performs the song alongside fellow rappers DeStorm Power and Andy Milonakis.
The lyrics of the track include Snoop rapping: “Home with kids in the crib ma/Pocket like it’s hot…/When the craving’s got a hold of you/Pocket like it’s hot…/And your munchies get a attitude/Pocket like it’s hot…/I’ve got the pockets in my arms/Setting off smoke alarms/And I eat ’em smoking hot/’Cause I got it goin’ on.”
Later in the song, he proudly states that he’s “got some cheesy drizzle/dripping on my shizzle.”
After a journey to Jamaica, Snoop Dogg recently changed his stage name to Snoop Lion, a name given to him by a Rastafarian priest. This name is derived from the Lion on the Imperial Ethiopian flag, which holds significance for Rastafarians as a representation of former Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie.
During a press conference in New York, Snoop expressed his belief in being the reincarnation of singer Bob Marley and explained, “I didn’t want to be Snoop Dogg on a reggae track…I wanted to bury Snoop Dogg and become Snoop Lion, but I didn’t know that until I went to the temple and received the name Snoop Lion from the Nyabingi priest.”
Snoop Dogg has collaborated with Diplo to release a reggae single called ‘La La La’, and plans to release his reggae album, ‘Reincarnated’, later this year.
