Lloyd Charmers, a reggae artist, has died at the age of 74.
On December 27, he passed away in London after experiencing a heart attack while driving his car.
Despite being taken to Homerton Hospital, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Born Lloyd Tyrell in Kingston, Jamaica, he began his music career in 1962. He first performed with Roy Willis as The Charmers before joining The Uniques. Additionally, he was part of the harmony group known as The Flames.
In 1970, he released his debut solo albums, ‘Reggae Charm’ and ‘Reggae is Tight’ under the Trojan label.
In the 1970s, Charmers established his own record label called Splash and worked with various artists, including Ken Boothe, whose rendition of Bread’s ‘Everything I Own’ reached the top of the Singles Charts in 1974.
