According to reports from the Czech Republic, Randy Blythe, the frontman of Lamb Of God, has been arrested and charged with manslaughter.
Prior to the band’s scheduled performance at Hard Rock Cage in Prague, the singer was taken into custody and subsequently charged. This led to the cancellation of the band’s planned show.
The charges against Blythe reportedly stem from an incident that occurred in 2010 during the band’s performance at Club Abaton in Prague. Reports indicate that a fan jumped on stage, resulting in a confrontation that led to an injury. This fan later died, allegedly due to those injuries. Authorities now appear to assert that Blythe is accountable for the fan’s death.
A statement from local police in Prague, translated, states: “We have arrested the singer and charged him with the crime of bodily harm of 4th degree which resulted in the fan’s death.”
Maria Ferrero, a representative for Lamb Of God, claimed that Blythe is “wrongfully accused,” adding that “lawyers are addressing the situation, and we anticipate his full exoneration.”
She provided an update on the matter, stating: “An official statement concerning the charges against singer Randy Blythe will be issued by Lamb Of God’s management. As formal charges have yet to be filed and the case remains in the investigation phase, it would be premature to release an official statement filled with inaccuracies or innuendos.”
Ferrero elaborated: “There was absolutely no fight involved. This situation pertains to a fan who jumped over the barricade three times and rushed towards Randy during the concert. It is alleged that during the third instance, security was unable to intervene in time, and Randy pushed him back into the crowd, resulting in the fan reportedly falling and hitting his head.”
She further stated: “Until this weekend when the investigation concludes, no additional information will be released, but it’s crucial to clarify the facts concerning this one reported aspect, which is completely inaccurate.”
Currently on tour promoting their new album ‘Resolution’, Lamb Of God briefly addressed the situation on Twitter with the simple message: “Freerandyblythe.”
