Unveiling his new single ‘Screw Driver’, Prince is making waves.
The iconic singer shared the studio version of the track on his website after a snippet had previously surfaced from the enigmatic Twitter account, @3rdeygirl, which seemed to be leaking songs from Prince.
Currently, it’s uncertain if “3rd Eye Girl” is part of a viral marketing strategy connected to Prince or just a devoted fan who has located some unreleased tracks. Recently, Prince wrapped up a series of intimate rehearsal performances in Minneapolis, having reserved six dates at a small jazz venue this week to audition a new drummer and facilitate a jam session with his band.
The combination of new music and Prince’s confirmation that he is seeking a new live drummer has sparked speculation about a potential wider tour for this year, although no dates have been announced yet.
In addition, the Purple One is set to be celebrated at a charity tribute concert in New York on March 9. Artists, including The Roots and Talib Kweli, are slated to perform songs from his extensive catalog, but it remains uncertain if Prince will make an appearance at the event.
