It was revealed last night that POP singer CHARLES HADDON feared he had crippled a girl fan just hours before leaping to his death from a 60ft satellite mast at a music festival.
The 22-year-old lead singer of London band OU EST LE SWIMMING POOL caused a near riot when he unexpectedly dove into the audience during his performance at Belgium’s Pukkelpop festival.
The crowd reacted with outrage when a young girl, who he landed on, was rushed to the hospital with severe leg and back injuries.
Reports indicate that Haddon engaged in a heated argument with other band members shortly after the incident occurred.
Witnesses claimed he was fearful that he may have permanently injured the girl, potentially leaving the band vulnerable to a multi-million pound lawsuit.
It is believed that prior to climbing the mast and subsequently jumping into a car park, Haddon had sustained an injury to himself.
His parents, both in their 50s, were too distressed to speak at their home in Yelvertoft, Northamptonshire, last night.
The injured girl remains hospitalized in Belgium but is anticipated to make a full recovery.
