On January 14, New Order will unveil their highly anticipated mini-album ‘The Lost Sirens’.
The eight-track mini-album consists of songs penned by the band during the creation of 2005’s ‘Waiting For The Sirens Call’, with contributions from all members: Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook, Stephen Morris, and Philip Cunningham regarding writing, producing, and recording.
Drummer Stephen Morris remarked in a statement, “Lost Sirens? Well, it’s not really lost. I recall that Martin Hannett once had a concept of making a record and burying it in his garden, so that eventually someone would dig it up like a time capsule. We simply placed our record in a cupboard. And now we’ve taken it out.”
He further elaborated, “When we completed the first one (‘Waiting For The Sirens Call’), we had 20 song ideas… during a particularly fruitful period… but creating a double concept album out of all of them wasn’t feasible, so we decided to focus on just two instead.”
He went on to say, “The goal was always to compose four or five additional songs and release it around 18 months post the first one. When we recently rediscovered it from the cupboard, intending to re-edit some tracks, we all concurred they actually didn’t require any edits, and it deserved to be released as is. So here it is.”
The tracklisting for ‘The Lost Sirens’ includes:
‘I’ll Stay With You’, ‘Sugarcane’, ‘Recoil’, ‘Californian Grass’, ‘Hellbent’, ‘Shake It Up’, ‘I’ve Got A Feeling’, ‘I Told You So’.
