Jack Johnson to tour Australia

Shoe-hating singer-songwriter-surfer Jack Johnson is beginning a world tour this month with shows in Europe and the USA before he heads to Australia in December.

The tour’s in support of his next album, From Here To Now To You, which will be released on Friday September 13 on his own Brushfire Records label.

For this, his sixth studio album, Johnson reunited with Mario Caldato Jr., who previously produced his third and best-selling release In Between Dreams. This album also sees the return of collaborator Ben Harper, who performs both guest vocals and slide guitar a song called ‘Change’. The first we’ve heard of the album was the single ‘I Got You’ released earlier this year. If you expected it to involve an acoustic guitar and wryly gentle lyrics then you would be spot on. Check out the video below the tour dates.

None of the Australian gigs on the From Here To Now To You tour are set to take place in typical music venues. The Sydney and Perth shows will be outdoor affairs, the Sydney show on the Opera House steps and the Perth show at Kings Park. The Melbourne and Brisbane shows will be in the Plenary Theatre and the QPAC Concert Hall. As with all of his tours since 2008, Johnson’s profits from these shows will be donated to charity.

Tickets go on sale at 9am on Tuesday September 17.
