Wrestling icon Hulk Hogan has disclosed that he nearly became a part of an early iteration of Metallica.
The grappler, who is the star of his own reality TV show Hogan Knows Best, mentioned that he was once close friends with Metallica’s drummer Lars Ulrich during his time as a session musician.
He said, “Before becoming a wrestler, I was a session musician. I played bass guitar. I was good friends with Lars Ulrich, and he asked me if I wanted to play bass with Metallica during their early days, but it didn’t work out.”
Hogan also shared his admiration for The Stone Roses, mentioning that the reunited Manchester band used to provide the soundtrack for his workout routines. He remarked, “I love the Stone Roses. They’re getting back together, right? That’s awesome, man. I used to exercise to some of their tracks.”
Furthermore, the wrestler acknowledged that Kasabian often uses his name as a pseudonym for checking into hotels and humorously expressed his displeasure regarding it.
Discussing the Leicester band, Hogan stated: “I’ve heard about these guys. They created a show about UK wrestling in the ’80s, titled ‘Walk Like A Panther’. I know Rollerball Rocco; he’s my guy. I’d be his tag partner and handle those issues for trashing hotel rooms in my name.”
