Girls Aloud are huge…the hits, not their tits

Based on single sales, Girls Aloud have emerged as the biggest selling girl group of the 21st century.

Since their debut with ‘Sound Of The Underground’ in 2002, the band has accumulated nearly 4.3 million in single sales, with the debut track alone selling over 653,000 copies. This song also holds the title of their fastest selling single, moving 213,000 copies in just its first week.

Over the past decade, according to the Official Charts Company, Girls Aloud has achieved 20 top ten singles and secured four Number Ones.

Earlier this week, the comeback single ‘Something New’ from Girls Aloud was leaked online, but it has since received an official release.

Recently, while suggesting that the band’s reunion might be brief, Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole mentioned that they would reunite only for a greatest hits album and a 10th anniversary tour before going their separate ways again.

In her newly released autobiography, ‘Cheryl: My Story’, she expressed: “We’ll be working on a tour and greatest hits album. Then I think that’s it for Girls Aloud. We’ve achieved more than any of us ever dared to dream of.”

Girls Aloud was initially formed in 2002 through Popstars: The Rivals and enjoyed significant chart success until they went on hiatus in July 2009, allowing members Cheryl Cole, Kimberley Walsh, Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts, and Sarah Harding to explore other endeavors.
