Recently, George Michael made his way back to the UK following a two-month stay at a rehab clinic in Australia, according to reports.
In February, the ‘Faith’ singer entered the clinic’s luxurious Sanctuary, which charges $50,000 a week, to address emotional anxiety and various other issues.
Denials have come from Michael’s boyfriend Fadi Fawaz concerning claims that he was residing with the singer at one of the clinic’s villas; Fawaz stated that he was in Australia visiting his mother in Queensland.
George Michael had previously canceled his Australian tour last September, citing “major anxiety” as the reason for the cancellation. He expressed at that time: “Regarding my situation, all I can say is that since my illness last year, I have struggled to navigate the trauma that the doctors who saved my life warned me about.”
“They advised total rest and the type of post-traumatic counseling typically suggested for cases like mine, but I mistakenly believed… that the therapy would come from making music and performing for the audiences that bring me joy.”
He further stated: “Regrettably, I severely underestimated the challenges this year has presented and while I was correct in believing the shows would bring me immense happiness and that my voice would fully recover… I genuinely think that some recent performances have been among my best… I was mistaken in thinking I could overcome the significant anxiety that has troubled me since leaving Austria last December.”
Despite having performed at the Olympic Closing Ceremony and a few UK dates in October, sightings of George Michael have been scarce since then. Notably, his Twitter account has seen no updates since January 25.
