Dr Dre has topped the list of richest musicians in the world in the annual Forbes list.
The rapper and musical entrepreneur was revealed to be the highest earning musician of the past 12 months, bringing home around $100m this year. The figure is likely to be predominantly money made from the sale of his Beats by Dre headphone line earlier this year. He collected $100m before tax after HTC paid $300m for a 51 per cent controlling stake in the company last year.
Elsewhere on the list there are high entries for Roger Waters, Elton John and U2, while pop acts such as Take That, Britney Spears, Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber all made the top ten. Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Paul McCartney all finished above Foo Fighters with Dave Grohl and band mates earning around $47m in the past calendar month. It was also revealed that Beyonce earned more than husband Jay-Z in 2012.
