Finally, Noel Gallagher has disclosed that he has reconciled with Damon Albarn after their disagreement during the peak of Britpop in the mid-’90s.
For over 15 years, the two had not communicated following the heated exchanges between Blur and Oasis, which began in 1995 when both bands competed in the singles chart, culminating in Blur’s victory with their hit ‘Country House’ over the Manchester group.
However, Gallagher, who is on track to lead the album chart with his debut solo record ‘Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’, mentioned that they recently encountered each other and decided to grab a beer together.
He remarked, “Interestingly enough, I ran into him last night. It’s been literally 15 fucking years since I’ve seen him, and there he was in some club. We both went, ‘Hey! Fucking hell!’ and he suggested, ‘Come on, let’s go for a beer.'”
The former Oasis member continued, “So, we’re sitting there, having a beer, and just reflecting, ‘What the hell was all that about 15 years ago? That was crazy.’ He then added, ‘It was a great time, though,’ to which I replied, ‘Yeah, it definitely was a fucking good laugh.'”
Gallagher also expressed that he would have eagerly joined Kasabian after Oasis parted ways in 2009 if the Leicester rock band had extended an invitation.
“I would have jumped at the chance to join that band, but they never reached out,” he remarked. “I wasn’t really getting calls from anyone. Bono never contacted me to say, ‘I’ve always thought The Edge could use some back-up.’ So, if you’re reading this and you’re part of a band that sells over 15 to 20 million albums and you need a rhythm guitarist, then…”
Kasabian and Oasis shared the stage together shortly before the Manchester band disbanded in August two years ago.
