Daft Punk are headed to Wee Waa

On May 17, the French DJs will host their “global album launch party” in a town recognized as the Cotton Capital of Australia.

Mayor Conrad Bolton shared that he initially thought Sony Music was “pulling his leg” when they first reached out about the event. However, following a visit from the record label executives, the town’s excitement soared. “We believe Wee Waa is distinctly Australian, so it was a perfect fit for Sony Music and Daft Punk,” Bolton elaborated. “Daft Punk is celebrated for pushing boundaries and developing innovative, creative approaches to album releases.”

The “Global Launch Party” will take place alongside the 79th Annual Wee Waa Show. Although specific details regarding the event are limited, reports indicate that the album will be performed from a specially constructed stage for 4000 fans (along with interested locals) on the release night. Gates will open at 3:30 for this occasion, which promises “typical Australian country show entertainment” including showgirl competitions, cross cut saw contests, a dog high jump, and fireworks.

Located 500 kilometers north-west of Sydney, Wee Waa has only two caravan parks and two motels, which means locals are likely to be renting out their spare rooms on May 17.
