According to Graham Coxon, “there will definitely be another Blur album”.
The guitarist, currently promoting his new solo album ‘A+E’, mentioned that although the band hasn’t yet started rehearsing for their live comeback at this month’s Brit Awards, they will be heading back to the studio soon.
On February 21, the band will be celebrated with the Outstanding Contribution To Music Award at the ceremony held at the O2 Arena, where they will also be performing. When asked about the preparations, Coxon remarked: “It’s pretty nice to be getting the Brit award. We haven’t planned the rehearsals yet, but there will definitely be another Blur album.”
He further expressed that the 2009 reunion of the band had significantly contributed to their “amazing healing experience” and assured that they would be making more music together.
He elaborated: “2009 was an amazing healing experience for us. We were really swept away with it and got a lot out of our systems. We realized how much we still had in common, that we are good friends, that we are brothers. We’re always going to meet up and want to play things. We do like recording. Eventually, even if things aren’t around the corner, Blur will do more recordings together. We all love each other and still like making music so that’s not a bad start.”
Rumors have circulated regarding Blur working in the studio with producer William Orbit, prompted by a tweet from the producer suggesting that Albarn and Coxon were collaborating on new material with him. However, as of now, neither Orbit nor the band has provided further comments.
