Twitter has been graced with an announcement from Blur regarding the impending release of two new singles.
On their official Twitter account, the band revealed the date July 2, accompanied by the hashtagged titles, ‘The Puritan’ and ‘Under The Westway’.
Earlier this year, Damon Albarn and Graham Coxon performed ‘Under The Westway’ at a benefit show for War Child during the Brit Awards, while an acoustic rendition of ‘The Puritan’ was showcased by Albarn at a poetry festival at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall earlier this month.
The tweet for ‘The Puritan’ includes an image of neon text reading, “Hey puritan what you gonna do about it”, while the post for ‘Under The Westway’ features a photograph of the West London overpass displaying the message: “Bring us the day they switch off the machines.”
This August, Blur will kick off an intimate tour across the UK.
These performances will serve as a precursor to the band’s significant outdoor concert at London’s Hyde Park on August 12. This event will see Blur headlining alongside New Order and the Specials and is timed to coincide with the closing ceremony of the Olympic games. Additionally, Blur is set to headline Sweden’s Way Out West festival in August.
On July 30, Blur will release a comprehensive box set titled ’21’. This collection encompasses the band’s seven studio albums along with over five hours of unreleased content, featuring 65 tracks, rarities, three DVDs, a collector’s edition book, and a special limited edition Seymour seven-inch vinyl.
