There was significant speculation about the cause of Amy Winehouse’s death after her tragic passing in July. However, it has been reported today that authorities have returned the toxicology results to the Winehouse family, confirming that no illegal substances were detected in Amy’s system at the time of her passing.
A family spokesperson stated, ‘The results show that alcohol was present, but it is yet to be determined if it had any influence on her death.’
‘They are anticipating the results of the inquest set for October.’
Following Amy’s death, a London drug dealer claimed to have assisted Amy in purchasing £1,200 worth of crack cocaine and heroin the night before she died.
Tony Azzopardi asserted that he aided the late singer in acquiring the Class A drugs in the early hours of July 23rd, which is the same day she was discovered deceased in her home in London.
The 56-year-old, introduced to the late star by her ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil, expressed his desire for her family to ‘know the truth about what transpired’.
He shared with friends and family, ‘Three years ago, Amy triumphed over her drug dependency; doctors had declared it impossible, but she accomplished it.’ ‘She was earnestly working on her drinking and had just finished three weeks of sobriety.’
‘She remarked, “Dad, I’ve had enough of drinking. I can’t bear to see the pain on your and the family’s faces any longer.”‘
At the same funeral, Mitch expressed his intention to create something in honor of the singer to assist others facing similar issues as Amy did.
However, Mitch’s aspirations for establishing the foundation have been thwarted by someone who has already registered the charity’s name to seek profits.
Resident of Uxbridge, Martin McCann, acquired the domain name Amywinehousefoundation.com and paid £160 to register the Amy Winehouse Foundation Ltd with Companies House on August 2.
He claims he is ‘not exploiting anything’ and suggested critics to ‘remove the emotional aspect and approach it as a business’.
Consequently, Mitch has had to return donations from fans, as he could not establish a bank account under that name.
On Saturday, Mitch expressed his frustration, stating, ‘We need to flood the tabloid websites to pressure this opportunist who snatched our foundation’s name.
‘Rather than focusing on securing funding, I am forced to send cheques back because we don’t have a bank account in that name,’ Mitch added.
In the meantime, McCann has defended his actions, remarking, ‘I’m not exploiting anything right now. I’ve merely purchased some domain names. Anyone could have done that with a simple click. I feel no shame or embarrassment. Remove emotions and think business. Mitch is desperately trying to hijack this charity for his personal agenda. She isn’t the only Amy Winehouse in existence.’
McCann stated that he was approached by his internet service provider to relinquish the domain name.
He mentioned his willingness to ‘reach an agreement’ with Mitch – but only if Mitch apologizes for disparaging him on Twitter.
McCann concluded, ‘I’m not the opportunist. The true opportunist is somewhere else without control of the name.’
