Adele to have a throat op

Adele will undergo a throat operation due to an injury that could jeopardize her career.

The singer of Someone Like You is set to have surgery for a vocal cord hemorrhage.

All of her upcoming gigs have been cancelled by the 23-year-old.

Her doctors have advised her to take the rest of the year off for recovery.

A statement from her management indicated: “With deep regret, Adele must cancel her remaining live performances and promotional events in 2011.

“She will have surgery to resolve her ongoing throat issues, and a full recovery is anticipated.

“Doctors have advised complete vocal rest and full recuperation before she can consider any work commitments.”

Adele, whose album 21 is the top-selling album of 2011 with ten million sales worldwide, has experienced throat issues throughout the year. Earlier this month, she cancelled her US tour.

At that time, the singer expressed that she felt “heartbroken and worried” about her injury.

She expressed, “I have no choice but to properly and fully recuperate or I run the risk of damaging my voice permanently.”

During a performance last month, she shared with her fans that she has stopped smoking and drinking to protect her voice.

Recently, she wrote: “Singing is literally my life — it encompasses my hobby, my love, my freedom, and now my profession.”
