Curious about whether your date is open to having sex on the first date? One effective way to gauge this is to ask if they enjoy beer.
If you seek a long-term relationship, it’s worthwhile to discover if they dream of living on a boat or have a fondness for horror films.
According to the founder of a dating website, these deceptively simple questions can reveal a lot about a potential partner.
This trend holds true for both gay and straight individuals, as noted by Christian Rudder, a Harvard alumnus and the creator of the dating site OKCupid.
Following an analysis of the profiles and interactions of hundreds of millions of users, Mr. Rudder determined that the preference for beer was the strongest predictor of the likelihood of casual sexual encounters.
QUESTIONS FOR THE GUYS
According to OKCupid data, the ‘beer test’ is exclusively reliable for predicting a woman’s potential interest in casual sex, but the site asserts that these questions also apply to men.
If they respond affirmatively, consider these implied probabilities of having sex on the first date:
1) In certain circumstances, wouldn’t nuclear war be thrilling? 82%
2) If given the chance, would you consider launching nuclear weapons under any circumstances? 82%
3) Can you envision yourself ever killing someone? 82%
He also identified three questions that most accurately forecast whether couples will pursue a long-term relationship.
While many believe that questions regarding someone’s perspective on sex, smoking, and religion are the most telling, he found that asking these three questions could predict compatibility more than twice as effectively:
1) Wouldn’t it be exciting to abandon everything and live on a sailboat?
2) Are you a fan of horror movies?
3) Have you ever traveled alone to another country?
The data indicate that shared interests in sensation-seeking might be even more crucial for determining compatibility than more apparent compatibility indicators such as a date’s views on religion, sex, and smoking.
The mathematics graduate also explored how a woman’s self-description correlates with both self-confidence and sex drive.
His findings revealed that a woman’s sex drive notably increases until her late 30s and then experiences a sharp decline, while her self-confidence consistently grows with age.
Women who identified as ‘curvy’ expressed greater interest in sex and displayed higher self-confidence compared to those who labeled themselves as ‘skinny’, a trend that spans all age groups.
His blog features graphs indicating that women who dislike exercising are twice as likely to encounter difficulties achieving orgasm compared to those who do exercise; that frequent users of Twitter tend to have shorter relationships in real life; and that individuals residing in wealthier areas are more inclined to seek casual sexual encounters.
