Have you ever come across a Finch that consumes blood?
The Vampire Finch has a strong preference for blood. It can be found exclusively on the Wolf and Darwin Islands, situated in the Galapagos Islands of Ecuador.
This Finch alights on the tails of larger sea birds—most notably the Nazca Booby and the Blue-footed Booby—and pecks at the base of their wing feathers, subsequently drinking the blood that trickles from the resulting injuries.
In addition to blood, it feeds on seeds, eggs, and invertebrates.
