Exactly eleven years ago, the twin towers in New York were tragically attacked by terrorists, and 9/11 will forever be etched in our memories as the day the world grieved the malevolence within humanity.
This day will also be significant as a turning point for the world in its indifference towards terrorism in various nations.
Countries such as Northern Ireland, Egypt, Iraq, and Libya have undergone transformation. Although Afghanistan still has challenges ahead, progress towards freedom is being made in numerous nations.
The victims who lost their lives in New York can never be forgotten. Their families face a difficult path to find forgiveness for this tragedy…but can we derive any hope for the future from this calamity?
Yet, we must also take heed of the lessons from the past.
Marking eleven years on the eleventh day serves as a reminder for us to remain vigilant and cautious. History tends to repeat itself…no one wishes to witness another manifestation of the evil experienced on that day. Across the globe, we must remember and exercise caution. We should not allow the progress achieved to be threatened by malevolent individuals.
These individuals do not embody Islam. They do not stand for the marginalized in the Middle East.
Post 9/11, we have become attentive to the grievances and struggles of the underprivileged in other nations. It is now time to not only listen but also offer assistance.
Hilary Clinton has traveled the globe, lending her ear to the distressed…it is now imperative to help her facilitate more communication and reduce violence.
History teaches us that ‘What has happened before can happen again.’
It is our collective responsibility to ensure it does not recur.
