Last night, Will Ferrell revealed a sequel to the movie Anchorman is in the works…during a playful TV appearance as his iconic character.
While dressed as Ron Burgundy and playing the character’s flute, the actor addressed US chat show host Conan O’Brien.
“I want to announce this to everyone here in the Americas, as well as to our friends in Spain, Turkey, and the UK, including England,” he stated. “As of 0900 mountain time, Paramount Pictures and I, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy, have reached an agreement on a sequel to Anchorman.”
He continued: “It is official. A sequel to Anchorman is happening.”
Despite Ferrell’s persistent enthusiasm, efforts to kickstart a sequel had been delayed.
Now, however, the project has received approval. The audience reacted positively, erupting in loud cheers before “Ron” began to sing and made his way offstage.
Earlier in the show, San Diego’s most famous export took a jab at Conan’s appearance.
He made a comment regarding the presenter’s hair and suggested he undergo plastic surgery.
The actor remarked: “I’ve got a minor critique, something only a professional like me would notice, but Conan, you look terrible.
“Allow me to offer some advice. Dismiss your hair stylist, dismiss your makeup artist, fire your gay wardrobe consultant, and just get surgery, OK?
“Walk into your doctor’s office, point at your face, and say, ‘Doc, it’s time for a complete rewrite.'”
