When it comes to love, they say age merely serves as a number… just inquire about Green Mile star Doug Anthony Hutchison and his new wife.
The 51-year-old actor has wed aspiring country singer Courtney Alexis Stodden, who is merely 16.
Last month, the couple said “I do” in Las Vegas, and this week Hutchison proudly shared a photo of himself with the former beauty queen on his website.
He wrote, ‘On Friday, May 20th, 2011, at 12 pm, Doug Anthony Hutchison and Courtney Alexis Stodden became husband and wife in The Little Chapel of Flowers, Las Vegas, Nevada.’
‘Mr. and Mrs. Hutchison are happily living together in their Hollywood Hills home with their little pups, Everette and Tuna.’
Since their wedding, the TV star and his teenage wife have found themselves defending his choice.
‘We understand our significant age difference may stir controversy,’ the couple acknowledged.
‘However, we’re deeply in love and wish to convey that true love transcends age.’
In Las Vegas, the legal age for marriage is 18, but with parental consent, one can marry at 16.
Courtney’s mother, Krista Stodden, confirmed that it was either her or Courtney’s father who gave their blessing for the marriage.
‘We fully support this marriage,’ said Courtney’s mother.
‘Doug is a wonderful man, and we love him.’
She also justified her daughter’s choice, insisting that she is a ‘good Christian girl.’
‘They are incredibly in love, and we completely support this,’ Krista stated.
‘Courtney was a virgin when she wed Doug. She is a good Christian girl.’
Despite appearing to be older than her 16 years, some speculate that Courtney may have undergone cosmetic procedures to achieve her ‘mature’ look, a claim Krista refutes.
‘She is a beautiful girl. Her breasts and lips are real; she’s not plastic,’ she declared.
Doug is primarily recognized for portraying prison guard Percy Wetmore in the film adaptation of Stephen King’s The Green Mile, which garnered him critical acclaim.
He later participated in supporting roles in films such as Shaft, Bait, I Am Sam, and The Salton Sea.
Currently, he is producing Vampire Killers, described as ‘a show focusing on an elite group of vampire hunters in pursuit of a Queen Vampire and her 13 coven members.’
Courtney is an aspiring country music artist, and her website indicates that her new husband manages her affairs, listed as the primary contact for all business-related matters.
On her site, she identifies herself as a ‘recording artist, singer/songwriter, actress, and model currently based in Ocean Shores, Washington, as well as Hollywood, California.’
Beginning her career early, she signed with a modeling agency at just 12.
At 15, she entered Donald Trump’s Miss Universe Organization, becoming Miss Ocean Shores, Washington, and later represented her city in the Miss Washington USA Pageant.
