On the set of Sylvester Stallone’s film sequel, The Expendables 2, in Bulgaria, a stuntman has died and another has sustained serious injuries.
The stuntman, whose identity remains undisclosed, lost his life while executing a stunt that involved an explosion.
The injured individual has reportedly undergone surgery and is currently in critical condition at a hospital.
An investigation has been initiated by the police regarding the accident, which took place 15 miles from Sofia, the capital.
“It is with great regret that we confirm this unfortunate accident,” stated Nu Image/Millennium Films, the company behind The Expendables 2.
“Our hearts go out to the families and those involved in the production who are impacted by this tragedy.
“The filmmakers are cooperating closely with the authorities to address and investigate this incident.”
The incident occurred during the filming of an explosion on an inflatable boat at Ognyanovo dam.
At the time of the accident, Stallone, who directed the first Expendables film and is producing the sequel, was not on set as he was busy filming scenes at a different location.
The Expendables 2 features a star-studded cast of action heroes, including Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Dolph Lundgren, Jet Li, Chuck Norris, and Jean-Claude Van Damme.
