In an April Fool’s-style prank, Shakira and her boyfriend Gerard Pique pretended to be new parents for the first time.
The Barcelona soccer star Gerard took to Twitter to share the “joyful news” with their unsuspecting fans.
He tweeted: “Our son has been born! We are very happy! Thank you to everyone for your messages!”
Shakira and Gerard, who began their relationship in 2011, had not yet revealed the name of their supposed new arrival.
However, on what is known in Spain and Mexico as The Day of the Innocents, Gerard confirmed their “prank” by stating: “We have a name! His name is Innocent! Happy Innocents Day to all!”
Innocents Day commemorates the story of how Mary and Joseph deceived King Herod and successfully escaped with baby Jesus from Bethlehem before he could face harm.
