He may well have married Pop princess Katy Perry but his past has not always been so picture perfect.
In fact his youth was marred with drug abuse and sexual deviancy and he has recently said that group sex was like an Olympic sport.
The reformed lothario opened up about group sex and said: ‘There’s certain practical considerations. Really anymore than me, I’m the neutral, three others then what you’re essentially in is a French farce with door slamming and plate spinning, there’s too much going on, it’s very hard to manage that kind of situation it becomes more like an Olympic event, even the enjoyment goes out of it a bit.
He added, ‘The inaugural Russell Brand Easter hot tub party was chaos, that’s no way to celebrate Easter.’
The British comedian has also opened up about his drug addiction and revealed how he relied on drug-induced highs just to get him through the day.
He said, ‘For me it was heavy, like I needed it (drugs) or I was looking to solve internal problems externally, I approached it like medicine, I approached it like it could cure me.’
But when he was asked by Piers Morgan on the Life Stories show he said that he wasn’t ashamed of the drugs he took.
He told Piers, ‘ No, not really, it was a stupid time, of course I hurt a lot of people around me and I’m embarrassed and sad and I feel sorry that I done those things.’
The comedian also revealed how it was his manager who told him that he needed help and said that he needed professional help.
Russell said,‘Yeah, not long after John said, “you’re fucking going,” and John sort of forced me, I had this moment where I just sort of stood for the first time in my life.’
Describing the event he said, ‘I was a little kid and then I was drug addict and then I stopped, there was never a transition, I went from childhood into drug addiction without stopping to think about whether it was a good idea or not.’
The funny man also opened up about how he doesn’t find it difficult to refuse drugs today, he said, ‘Not really, because it’s an important part of my life, if people say, “do you want a line,” I just say no thank you.’
Russell, who married pop Princess Katy Perry last year, has also revealed how he dealt with his mother’s cancer scares throughout his childhood.
When questioned over whether he worried about losing his mother he said, ‘I did think that, I was a bit scared. You know when you’re seven, you’re childish, quite rightly, I think I was obviously scared and concerned but my mum did a great job in being strong for me, and then again when I was 11.
‘But when I was 16,17 I think that made me go a bit loopy. I was thinking, “Right this is it, it’s just me,” and I probably didn’t think I had the right tools to get through life because I was a nutter.’
While Katy has been living it up in L.A. celebrating Rihanna’s birthday last, Russell went to Sydney, Australia.
He recently tweeted, ‘I’m in Australia – the Essex of the world. I feel at home. Plus my criminal record is NUFFING here.’
