Unveiled is the world’s first “sex robot”, a life-size rubber doll named Roxxxy capable of having genuine conversations with her owner, including discussions about football.
Completing her appearance, the dark-haired, negligee-clad robotic girlfriend features artificial intelligence and synthetic skin that resembles flesh.
The doll measures five feet, seven inches in height and weighs 120 pounds, equipped with five distinct “personalities”, and is described by her developers as “ready for action.”
Prospective partners have the option to personalize Roxxxy’s attributes, such as race, hair color, and breast size.
Capable of conversing about topics like Manchester United, Roxxxy also responds with comments based on how she is touched.
With anatomical correctness, the robot even has the ability to snore and possesses an articulated skeleton that mimics human movement, although it cannot walk or move its limbs independently.
Users can choose from personalities such as Wild Wendy, known for her outgoing and adventurous demeanor, Frigid Farrah, who exhibits a more reserved nature, a young unnamed figure that embodies naivety, Mature Martha with a caring, matriarchal quality, and S & M Susan, designed for those with bolder preferences.
Roxxxy is accompanied by a laptop and is priced between US$7,000 to US$9,000; she was unveiled at the weekend during the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas.
The robot’s creator, Douglas Hines, who enjoys football, emphasized that the primary goal was to create a doll that owners can converse with and connect to.
“She can’t vacuum or cook, but she can do nearly everything else, if you catch my drift,” remarked the artificial intelligence engineer from New Jersey.
“She functions as a companion. She possesses a personality. She can hear, listen, speak, and respond to your touch. She can even sleep. Our aim is to emulate a human-like personality.”
According to Mr. Hines, she is wirelessly connected to the internet for software updates, technical assistance, and even to send emails to her owner.
Hines, who works with TrueCompanion, stated that the doll has the capability to engage in simple dialogues and was designed to “understand your preferences perfectly.”
“While sex only fulfills a certain need, eventually one craves intellectual connection,” he commented.
“She is in tune with your interests. If you have a penchant for Porsches, she does too. If soccer excites you, she shares that interest.”
Users’ customized personalities can be shared online via the company’s website.
“Imagine swapping girlfriends or wives, without actually handing them over to someone else,” he added.
Her robotic functions stem from “the three inputs,” while a mechanical heart operates a liquid cooling mechanism.
Mr. Hines suggested that this innovation serves not only as entertainment but also as a resource for individuals with sexual dysfunction or those who wish to explore in a risk-free environment.
In his 2007 book “Love and Sex with Robots,” David Levy, a British chess player and AI specialist, asserts that robots will become important sexual partners for humans, addressing needs that others cannot or refuse to fulfill.
The inspiration for creating the sex robot arose from the tragic events of September 11, 2001, where a dear friend was lost, prompting him to vow to preserve that personality forever.
Roxxxy is currently available in Europe and the United States, with plans for worldwide availability in the future.
A male counterpart of the doll, named Rocky, is also on the horizon.
