Rihanna has stood by her choice to work again in the studio with the ex who violently assaulted her in 2009.
The determined singer insists that her decision is strictly professional, stating that she chose Chris Brown for the collaboration because he is currently the “hottest R&B artist out there.”
They collaborated on two tracks together…she contributed her vocals to his hit Turn Up The Music, while he provided his voice for Rih’s song Birthday Cake.
Both songs were released last month, nearly three years to the date after the brutal incident that left Rihanna injured.
The assault occurred when Chris, now 22, attacked the star during an argument in his rented Lamborghini on the brink of the 2009 Grammy Awards.
This altercation not only ended their relationship but also put Chris’s career in jeopardy.
He was sentenced to probation and faced a restraining order that prohibited him from being within 100 yards of his ex.
Yet, Rihanna, now 24, seems prepared to move forward.
On Thursday, she called into Ryan Seacrest’s LA radio show to elaborate on her decision to collaborate with Chris.
She stated: “I reached out to him about doing Birthday Cake because that was the only person that truly… it made sense for the record.”
“As a musician — irrespective of everything else — he was going to be the one.”
She continued: “I considered various rappers, but I’ve worked with them so many times. The hottest R&B artist right now is Chris Brown.”
“Therefore, I wanted him on the track.”
Currently, rumors are circulating that the two may also be considering a romantic rekindling.
Over the weekend, Rihanna shared lyrics from a Beres Hammond song, seemingly hinting to her fans.
Her post read: “When they see me with you, wonder what the crowd would say? When they find us together, what will all the people say?”
In another update, tattoo enthusiast Rihanna has a new ink to flaunt — a small red cross tattooed on her collarbone. Ouch!
Rih got the tattoo on Thursday night from her artist friend Bang Bang at his tattoo studio in New York City.
