Prince William to “join giblets” with Kate Middleton

Proposing marriage would have looked quite different hundreds of years ago.

The relaunched online version of the Oxford English Dictionary informs us that, had Prince William been proposing to Kate Middleton 300 years in the past, he might have used phrases like “join giblets” or even suggested they should “buckle”.

While I acknowledge this may not hold a candle to one of Shakespeare’s sonnets, it certainly comes off as more romantic than the “whatever love means” remark that Prince Charles made 30 years ago regarding his engagement to Diana.
