Nicki Minaj revealed that the prolonged televised conflict with fellow American Idol judge Mariah Carey was resolved when they watched Minaj’s sex tape together.
In October of last year, tensions escalated when Minaj threatened to “knock out” Carey during an American Idol audition taping. The conflict intensified after a disagreement over a contestant’s performance led Minaj to unleash a series of insults directed at Carey.
During a press conference promoting the new season of the show, Minaj confirmed that they had resolved their differences. When asked about their reconciliation, she stated: “I put on my sex tape,” to which Carey responded: “Time heals all wounds.” Minaj then added: “And we watched my tape … We’re professionals.”
Earlier this week, Mariah Carey mentioned that she needed to hire additional security while working with Nicki Minaj on the show, citing feelings of “unsafe” due to their altercation. She expressed that the heated exchange, which was filmed, created an “unsafe work environment.”
“Anytime somebody’s throwing threats at someone, that’s just not appropriate. Sitting there on the road with two babies, I’m not going to take any chances, so yes, I did hire more security,” she explained.
